Cellbot and Shopify affiliate terms: separate programs

Direct answer

Cellbot’s terms exclude Shopify-managed Cellbot subscriptions and prohibit specified self-referrals. Shopify’s separate Affiliate Program requires an approved application and its terms exclude fees for a merchant created or owned wholly or partly by that Affiliate. The Shopify Partner Agreement governs a separate referral route with its own ownership exclusions. ShopifySkills has not applied to any program; eligibility and account ownership have not been confirmed.

Three different referral arrangements have different rules. Do not combine their commission or ownership restrictions.

Key takeaways

  • Cellbot referrals and Shopify merchant referrals are separate programs.
  • Shopify Affiliate applications require approval and have ownership exclusions.
  • Shopify Partner referrals follow a different agreement.
  • No affiliate application, link or tracking is active on this preview.

Cellbot affiliate referrals

Cellbot’s observed terms exclude Shopify-managed subscriptions. Its App Store listing says subscriptions there are billed through Shopify, so do not treat those subscriptions as commission-eligible.

The Cellbot terms also bar the affiliate’s own account and specified related-business, family and financial-interest referrals. These restrictions apply to the Cellbot arrangement; they are not Shopify Affiliate Program terms.

Shopify Affiliate Program

Shopify operates a separate Affiliate Program. Applicants need an active website, an established audience, original commerce-related content and relevant experience; applying does not guarantee approval.

Its terms say no fee is payable for a referred merchant created or owned wholly or partly by that Affiliate. Earnings guidance also limits commissions to specified full-price subscription plans and the applicable contract.

Shopify Partner Program

The Partner Program Agreement is a distinct route. It says Affiliate Program participants are not Referral Partners for activities under the Affiliate Program and separately excludes fees for certain merchants owned by a Partner or the Partner’s employer.

Do not apply a Partner Agreement rule to an Affiliate Program application, or assume either program approves this publisher or its related businesses.

Publisher status and advertising disclosure

ShopifySkills has not applied to either Shopify program, and the legal applicant or account ownership has not been confirmed. Any related-party eligibility question needs written confirmation against the chosen program’s current contract.

ASA/CAP guidance says affiliate marketing should be obviously identifiable as advertising. No affiliate application, referral link, cookie or tracking is active on this preview.
